The bluebirds completely dominated this game as they did last Saturday against Cwmbran. In that game they managed 18 attempts on goal, in this one they hit 20...sadly none of them ever looked like beating Kirkland in the Monmouth goal.
It was a familiar pattern, dominant bluebirds midfield play but rushed shots or scuffed headers at the end of flowing moves.
This game saw the side missing skipper Pemberton, keeper McFenton and top scorer Stef Williams but the side looked strong and capable. It was especially pleasing to see Tim Hicks back in a bluebirds shirt on The Meadow and he gave a commanding performance at centre back. Young keeper Nick Jones deputised ably for McFenton and was rewarded with a clean sheet. Captain on the day was Ricky Watts.
On Tuesday the bluebirds are again at home when they face Goytre United In the Nathaniel MG trophy...KO 7.30pm.
