A fifth straight win took the bluebirds into the top three of the Welsh League Division 1. Bluebirds appeared to be cruising it when Greg Walters eagerly finished off two neat moves in the 3rd and 20th minutes.
Cwmbran were having none of it though and played some expansive football of their own towards the end of the first half. Bull hitting the bar in the 35th minute with a superb drive.
The game changed massively, when in the 47th minute Matt Broome was sent off for receiving a second yellow card after handball was given by the referee. The ball was struck with great force at point blank range, so some would consider that a penalty and sending off were a little harsh.
The resilience shown by the bluebirds for the remainder of the match was awesome. Sheer determination to win the game was evident and the character shown in doing so was top class.
Massive credit to Cwmbran Celtic for playing excellent football throughout. They must be kicking themselves for leaving with no points but they simply could not break down the bluebirds defence.
