On Sunday 18th October, Haverfordwest County Ladies travelled to Pontyberem to play Cwm Gwendraeth for the second league game of the season on the back of a heavy defeat at the hands of Swansea City. The game started and finished at a good tempo and Cwm Gwendraeth scored two goals in the 25th and 35th minutes of the first half against the run of play and just before half time the Bluebirds captain Kaycee Blake scored from the edge of the penalty area.
Half Time 2-1
At the start of the second half the Bluebirds keeper Abbi Kerr made a finger tip save from close range and as a result of that played the whole of the second half with a broken finger. Haverfordwest had a good 80% of the play, battling hard in the midfield and defence. The bluebirds also had their chances up front, hitting the bar, and post as well as several efforts just passing the wrong side of the woodwork. In addition the Cwm Gwendraeth keeper made a number of fine stops to deny the bluebirds further goals. So the game finished 6 -1 to Cwm Gwendraeth but the score did not reflect the balance of play or how well the Bluebirds Ladies had played.
Player of the match went to Kaycee Blake and next Sunday the Bluebirds play Camrose in a Pembrokeshire Derby.
