This was not a huge margin of victory but for the second time in four days the Bluebirds travelled to the Rhondda region for an away game at a traditional footballing stronghold and came away with all three points.
The defence was solid once again, with Nicky Jones in goal keeping his second clean sheet in the week. The attack missed a few chances, but scored two fine goals to clinch the game.
With the runners-up spot now clearly in their sights, the Bluebirds will have wanted to get an early goal to steady matters down, and a score, a good one, arrived in the 18th minute. Left back ALARIC JONES, who had gone up for a corner, drove the ball in with a sweetly-struck volley from a far post position, Alaric’s first goal for the club.
The second goal, 10 minutes after half-time, was another such first. ELLIOT SCOTCHER, who is settling into the side extremely well, and who had been the goal-maker at Taff’s Well, now scored his first County goal when he finished off a beautifully-constructed move.
The Bluebirds now really will have the runners-up spot in their sights. With just 4 points needed from the last 3 games, they return to the Conygar Bridge Meadow to play Goytre United, on Tuesday 1st May, with a 7.30 kick-off.
County: Nick Jones; Matthew Brome, Alaric Jones, Sean Pemberton, Tim Hicks, Ricky Watts, Steffan Williams (Charlie Davies, 75), Leon Luby (Fraser Finlay, 85), Greg Walters, Dan Williams (Nicky Palmer,75), Elliot Scotcher.
