Caersws 3 - 4 Haverfordwest County |
||
Pre-season friendly After a run of low-scoring games, the Bluebirds rounded off their pre-season programme with a seven-goal thriller which was finally settled by a dramatic late winner from Academy player Vincent Atuyei. It was in fact the mid-Wales Bluebirds, relegated for this season to the Huws Gray Alliance, who scored first, with Mark Griffiths’ goal in the 12th minute. That reverse though only prompted the visitors into a spell of sustained pressure and they equalized when Neil Thomas scored his third pre-season goal. The game’s traffic continued to flow towards the Caersws goal and the Blues took the lead seven minutes before half-time, through Lee Hudgell. The visitors came out for the second half looking as if they would carry on as they had left off, and Richard Evans’ first goal for the club gave them a 3-1 lead. But that only stung Caersws into a strong comeback which saw Griffiths’ second goal of the afternoon and then an equalizer from Simon Jones. It seemed that the result would be a well-fought draw but with just three minutes left Academy striker Vincent Atuyei got on the end of a free kick into the box and poached a winning goal. So the tally from the six pre-season games reads Played 6, Won 4, Drew 2, with ‘Thommo’ the top scorer on 3. Haverfordwest County: Lee Idzi; Jack Jones; Terry Evans; Lee Jarman; Kristian Griffiths; Tom Ramasut; Jamie Bradford; Steffan Williams; Lee Hudgell; Richard Evans; Neil Thomas. Substitutes: Chris O’Sullivan; Vincent Atueyi; Rhys Dalling; Mark Evans. |
