Prestatyn Town 1-0 Haverfordwest County

2010/11 Principality Welsh Premier

An outstanding second half display by Prestatyn keeper John Hill-Dunst meant that County returned pointless from North Wales, after a first half goal from Lee Hunt had put Prestatyn in front.
The West Wales Properties sponsored Bluebirds started the game well and the first half was an evenly matched affair, with neither side having any clear advantage, and neither side having any clear cut chances. New signing Mattie Collins made an industrious and effective start to his County career, and was easily County’s best player in the first half. It was not until the 41st minute, that the first real chance occurred that when Idzi parried a shot from the Prestatyn attack, but was unable to prevent Lee Hunt heading home the rebound.
The second half was a completely different affair, as County moved Danny Thomas into a more central role alongside Jack Christopher. Whereas there were few chances in the first half, the second half provided a multitude of occasions where either side could have scored. The Bluebirds pressed for an equaliser and could have had one when the Prestatyn defence was caught in a state of confusion and handled in the box.
Jack Christopher stepped up, but was denied a goal by the first of several excellent saves from Hill-Dunst.
County didn’t let their heads drop following the save and continued to press for an equaliser. Prestatyn were pushed back into their own half and had to rely on counter attacking and long balls out of defence which were dealt with easily by Mark Dodds, voted man of the match by the travelling fans, and Lee Jarman.
Tom Ramasut came on for Chris O’Sullivan and an injury to Kyle Graves meant a quick reshuffle for Derek Brazil. Lee Hudgell came on at left wing, with Ritchie Evans dropping back into defence. Evans and Hudgell combined well on the left and Hudgie soon became the main source of danger. One cross, placed between two defenders was met by Jack Christopher who was again denied a goal by the Prestatyn keeper.
This was the pattern for the rest of the game, with County pressing, Hill-Dunst saving, and Prestatyn forced to attack on the break. Several times Lee Idzi was called into action, and Like Hill-Dunst he was up to the challenge.

County: Lee Idzi, Kyle Graves (Lee Hudgell 69'), Terry Evans, Lee Jarman, Mark Dodds, Matty Collins, Chris O'Sullivan (Tom Ramasut 63'), Danny Thomas, Neil Thomas, Jack Christopher, Richard Evans
