FRIENDLY - 2017/18
18 Jul, 2017 - 7:30:00 PM
Match Score : 0-6
This game was a decent work out for both sides, with the bluebirds dominating possession for long periods of the match.
The first ten minutes were fairly uneventful, with both sides just feeling each other out. On 10 minutes though, a header down from Bevan was parried away ahead of the onrushing Stef Williams. Then four minutes later Bevan found space in the six yard box but could only guide his header to the Emlyn keeper when unmarked. After 19 minutes, another nod down by Bevan was attacked by Stef Williams and was only thwarted by a last ditch tackle.
Two successive corners in the 21st minute were easily dealt with by Emlyn before the bluebirds found the net. Dan Williams slipped the ball to Palmer who almost ripped the net from 12 yards. Three minutes later the second goal arrived, a simple tap in from 6 yards from Stef Williams.
That ended the scoring in the first half with the bluebirds untroubled at the back, largely due to impressive midfield displays by Palmer, debutant Dan Williams and Watts. All three competed fiercely for the ball and didn't allow Emlyn into the game.
Half Time 0-2
A flurry of five half time substitutions saw a change of personnel but no change to the pattern of the game with Stotter looking especially effective down the right wing. He it was that struck the same post on 50 and 65 minutes, in between he scored with a fine shot across the keeper on 53 minutes, then set up a 'walk in' goal for young Williams on 56 minutes.
Joe Leahy was also looking impressive, leading the line with genuine strength and mobility.
The game itself, became much more open in the latter stages of the half. Emlyn having a good portion of the possession and a couple of efforts on target, which didn't trouble Nick Jones in the bluebirds goal.
Two late goals from Bevan and a second for Dan Williams completed the scoring.
A friendly fixture completed in great spirit by both sides in a fantastic setting. A very enjoyable evening.
