Cwmbran Celtic FC
Welsh League, Division One CWMBRAN CELTIC .. 3 HAVERFORDWEST COUNTY .. 1
Once again the Blues struggled to find their best home form on an away ground, and lost to a good and physically strong Celtic side.
Having acclimatised to a wide and expansive game on the Meadow’s broad spaces, the Bluebirds are maybe finding that the much narrower pitches often met in the Welsh League are proving a challenge. Certainly the clash with a strong third-placed side did not leave them too much time or room to set out on a learning curve. The first half though was fairly even, with the Blues starting the more brightly, but Celtic had the ball in the net in the 35th minute, only for the goal to be disallowed after a consultation between the referee and his assistant. Steve Hall then pulled off what was to be one of several good saves during the afternoon, but the game was goalless at half-time.
The visitors were then knocked right back by a brace of Cwmbran goals early in the second half, as SIMON PRANGLEY and JOSH BULL fired in. The Blues kept themselves in the game chasing a 2-goal deficit but a third from RAKESH PATEL made the outcome near to inevitable. The Blues did rally though. Jack Wilson was near to scoring and the keeper saved well from a Sean Pemberton header, before they got a goal right at the end as ELLIOT THOMAS rounded off a good move.
The Bluebirds return to the Meadow to play Cwmamman United on Saturday 24th November, kick-off 2.30.
