The first away trip of the season was to Prestatyn and there was a reasonable turnout. Some regulars were unable to make the trip due to family commitments, but the 12 of us who made the journey had a good time, which was only marred by the result.
As we were taking the kit up to the game we left at 7:30 from the Meadow and made the pickups in Letterston and Fishguard and then it was off to Llanrhustyd for breakfast, as we have done on every North and Mid-Wales trip for last two years. There was panic when we arrived as the staff weren’t expecting a ‘coach’, but all was well and we were on our way again within 45 minutes.
Due to the skilful driving of Kevin Haldane we made it to the ground in plenty of time. A quick drink in the bar, a chat with officials and staff at the club, and pretty soon it was match time.
As ever, we all know best, and we all knew what was wrong and how the team should be playing, and we all had different views of the game. A quick vote had Mark Dodds as man of the match, though the majority of the people who voted disagreed. But that’s football. You see it one way and someone else standing next to you sees it another.
One thing is sure though. Everyone had a good time, and the trips will continue. More travellers are always welcome, and a good time is guaranteed. Especially when we win. |
